NCL has long wanted to offer reefer containers in response to a growing demand for cold transport in Europe. This summer, NCL has expanded the container fleet with new reefer containers. - The containers are already delivered and included in our operation, says sales manager Bente Hetland.
Reefer container transports
The offer concerns European container transport to and from Norway. The containers are 45 'foot containers, a size equivalent to a fulload of 33 europallets. The 45' reefer containers are used for fresh products that need a temperature between -30 to +30 Celsius degrees. Containers can thus be regulated for freezing, or for chilled or hot air, which provides great flexibility for goods to be shipped. The container is plugged in for electricity on board the ships and on the dock at unloading.
- We see many different product groups of fresh produce using this type of container. And has received a lot of inquiries from actors who handle plants, fish, fruits and vegetables. These product groups are well suited for the new containers. Product groups like beverages, dairy products and medicines also fit, says Hetland, who looks forward to offering the new service to new and existing customers.
